Somatic Sessions + Yoga
Somatic Sessions
Along with weekly psychotherapy sessions, I offer single or ongoing Somatic Sessions. These are a combination of Somatic Archaeology, guided interactive meditations, and sound healing.
Somatic Archaeology© is fundamentally a historical trauma recovery modality. It was developed by Dr. Ruby Gibson in 1995 as a method to help her clients recover from traumatic events. The terminology “somatic” means of the body, and “archaeology” means to excavate. The practice of Somatic Archaeology© is the process of connecting with deep memories stored in the body and bringing them to the surface for reconciliation. This effectively frees the person from the shackles of personal, historical and generational trauma. Learn more about Ruby Gibson and her process here.
I learned this method by Ruby Gibson. I expanded on it to include some guided, interactive meditation portions and sound healing vibrations by using crystal tones singing bowls, Tibetan singing bowls, and gongs. The sound healing portion is only available when the sessions are done in person at our wellness and retreat center.
The guided meditation portions are similar to Yoga Nidra, where your body is guided into theta and delta brainwaves, the “twilight sleep,” the space between wakefulness and sleep. This state is healing for your body and mind, and allows you to stay in a state that lets your cells and body access and release trauma. I combine both of these techniques with Ruby Gibson’s Somatic Archaeology process in order to deeply connect to what your body is holding and ready to release.
Somatic Sessions at 75 min in length, offered in person or online and cost $90.

Yoga Nidra
Yoga Nidra is a guided auditory meditation usually done in a comfortably propped up Savasana pose. It is an ancient meditation technique that works by taking you to the brainwaves state similar to sleep, where the biology of your body makes is easier to disengage in thoughts and observe them rather than believe them. The techniques of deep relaxation, guided meditation, and visualization are combined to create a deep healing experience.
“Nidra translates as sleep, but it is not really a total sleep, but an awakening on the inner planes. It induces a state between being awake and being asleep known as the hypnogogic state in which the body enters a deep state of relaxation. In Yoga Nidra you can experience every cell in the body can become conscious. This powerful state can be used for deep relaxation, releasing memories locked in the subconscious and unconscious, and creating an expanded state of consciousness.”
